Setting an Active Camera

If you have created Cameras for your current project, they are available for use on Record Video tracks. When you set active Cameras and play back or record a visualisation, the changes of Camera view are only apparent if you have selected the ‘Preview’ option (see Previewing a Video Recording).

To set an active Camera:

  1. Right-click on the relevant track at the point at which you want to switch to a particular Camera and select Set active Camera.

The ‘Active Camera’ dialog is displayed

  2. Enter a name in the Event Name box.
  3. To activate this Camera when you record the visualisation, leave the Enable this event box checked (if you don’t want to activate it in the next session, uncheck the box).
  4. If you want to change the time at which this Camera becomes active, specify a new time in the ‘Start time’ box.
  5. From the Camera drop-down list, select the Camera you would like to activate at this point.
  6. Select a type of transition from the previous view:
    • Instantaneous – the view will cut instantly to this Camera.
    • Smooth – the view will glide smoothly from the previous Camera to this one. Specify a transition time (seconds) in the adjacent box.
  7. Click OK to set this Camera.
  8. Repeat from Step 1 for any other active Cameras you would like to set.

Once you have placed an active Camera you can move it along the Timeline by clicking and dragging the active Camera event (make sure you select the short vertical line just to the left of the event icon).
